Your Art Companion
Jan's art-history background and knowledge spans the genres from Royal Academy to Tate Modern; Tate Britain to Saatchi and the Auction Rooms. With an added interest in London's smaller galleries - Cork Street and the like; as well as those across the Home Counties, the opportunity for those wanting to explore art outside the major galleries become a reality too.
Jan's own work and inspiration
Jan has exhibited her vibrant painting and ceramic work widely across the UK and sold country-wide and internationally.
Synaesthesia has remained an inspiration through her works to date - having developed an interest in the topic when painting and printmaking in response to the powerful visual metaphors in poetry during earlier English studies.
For the past three years, responding to smell, specifically perfume, based on the concept of synaesthesia where one sense stimulates another sense or senses, led to an intensive course in perfumery and to an indoor and outdoor exhibition in collaboration with the perfume house Parterre - producing paintings, ceramics and poetry in response to their four signature fragrances.
Pieces from this exhibition then moved to Heart of the Tribe gallery in Glastonbury and are now at BlueHouse Artspace in Esher, Surrey.
